Help Audrey Get Her Surgery

This is Audrey Angel.

And she needs your help to lift two heavy burdens off her shoulders.

Audrey is painfully struggling under the weight of a treatable but expensive genetic condition that is threatening to destroy her future and needs your help to get the operation that will halt the impending spread of permanent damage to her body.

-MEDICALLY HERE'S WHAT'S WRONG

This inspiring artist, performer, seamstress, and mother has spent her whole life suffering from a genetic condition called Macromastia where she is subjected to abnormally large breasts. This condition is chronically painful, encumbering for daily life, and over time cascades into a multitude of debilitating health issues which are taking a heavy toll on her mind and body.

The physical strain of carrying such excessive weight in her chest has left her with:

-Degenerative disc disease
-Reoccurring skin infections
-Chronic neck and back pain
-Damaged shoulder joints
-Pinched nerves
-Exhaustion

Not to mention the psychological impact that comes with living with this condition. The literal struggle to work around her breasts even to complete basic tasks or the estrangement of having a differently proportioned body has developed into depression, anxiety, and dysmorphia.

-AUDREY'S STORY

Being the defiantly self-reliant fighter that she is, Audrey struggled to live with her condition for many years while she rose to become a prominent figure in the Pacific Northwest artists and festival community. She became known for her haunting and surreal illustrations such as “Amberlyn” and love of bugs and incorporating dead creatures into her art. Her creative talents also encompass that of her being a skilled seamstress and is known in the festival and burner scene for most famously designing convertible hooded bustles as well as cloaks, vests, and other beautiful works of garb. She further expanded into jewelry and developed a new technique for making butterfly wing earrings.

Her creative talent and charismatic personality made her extremely popular and loved by all as her ambition as an artist grew.

Until recently, her health took a turn.

-WHAT HAPPENED?

The stress her Macromastia had been imposing on her body for so many years finally started to show signs of some serious problems. Her pain began to grow exponentially worse and she was informed by her doctor that she may have permanent nerve and muscle damage in her neck and shoulder that was spreading down her arms.  Without the proper treatment, it was only going to get worse.

This news was devastating as it meant both that she was facing a future filled with ever increasing pain and encroaching immobility, and that the day when she could no longer create the art she was known for was in sight.

-BUT THERE'S HOPE!

There is an effective treatment option available which will halt the spreading damage in its tracks and restore her hope for a bright future.

Audrey needs a simple Reduction Mammoplasty (breast reduction surgery). She is a perfect candidate for this operation, the procedure is relatively low risk, and will definitely treat the root cause of her symptoms effectively stopping the damage from worsening. This relief will finally allow her to take steps to heal as best she can and look towards a creative and pain-free future.

-WHY SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP

The reason she need your help is that despite her numerous doctors’ recommendation, her insurance continues to deny her request for coverage. Appealing their decision also proved unsuccessful and while the bureaucracy continues to fail her, precious time is being lost as her condition worsens.

Therefore, we are going to have to raise the money for her ourselves

A surgical consult was able to give her a total all-inclusive cost for the operation which including fees for this fundraiser come to $8,900. A small price to pay for saving the future of this artist we love so much.
