Help Audrey get an MS Suitable Car
Donation protected
Hello lovely people. Audrey was unexpectedly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in May this year. As a result of her symptoms Audrey lost her entire income over night, and she will not be able to return to her chosen career of Massage Therapist.
Gratefully Audrey has now been successful in receiving the Disability Support Pension so that she has been able to maintain some independence with her finances and daily living expenses.
But now she finds herself on a permanently low fixed income, with no opportunity to grow her Super, access loans or make any substantial savings.
So what she has not been able to afford is a suitable car that reflects her drastic change in physical capacity. Audrey purchased a camper van that served as accommodation during Covid. And it has served her well. But with 650K on the clock it isn't going to attract much of a trade in!
The van is now totally unsustainable for living with MS. The step up is high. The doors are heavy. The height of the van prevents it being parked in a multitude of places, often including the designated Disability spaces that she is entitled to use, and regularly much further away from the services that she needs to access. Audrey then risks walking further than she can manage, or having to rely on others to transport her to appointments and shops.
Living with MS means that Audrey has a higher risk of falls. Rain can physically hurt her. The heat can incapacitate her. And the fatigue is debilitating. Having a small car will greatly assist her in managing daily tasks and accessing community supports.
Audrey does not want anything new or super flash. Just something manageable and that supports her to live her life in the best way possible with this chronic and complex life long disease.
Your funds will go towards the purchase of a second hand vehicle that better meets her needs.
I hope that you can help her with this at this challenging time.
