Hurricane Helene, deemed a “disaster of biblical proportions,” left Asheville and Western North Carolina literally decimated. The scope of this freak tragedy, even now, stuns all who have lived it or seen the images of the devastation and loss of life.
We’re the parents/grandparents, Alan Cohen and Joanne Salerno, and friends of Aubrey, Justin, and their 8 and 5-year-old children.
By the grace of God, this family’s lives were spared, and they are humbled by the stark reality of the carnage around them. Despite the severe damage to their house, lengthy loss of power, water, communication, and scarcity of food and fuel, the spirit of this little family compelled each member (including the children, out of school indefinitely) to join their community in missions of mercy, locating and distributing water and supplies to many even worse off than they.
We believe this remarkable, resilient family is worthy of assistance to help restore their home from the severe and extensive structural and water damage and loss of property wreaked by this massive storm.
We thank you in advance for considering their plight and cause, and please know that contributions will go directly to the family and be applied to the restoration of their home and the temporary living arrangements they'll need to make while reconstruction is in progress. God Bless!
