From Allendale, MI to the World Stage
We are Attention Span Zero (Team 61187C), a middle school robotics team from Allendale, Michigan. The VEX Robotics program places a high value on student ownership — every robot is student designed and student built. Coaches are there for occasional crowd control and to help ideas flow, but they are completely hands-off on design and build. This season our team worked incredibly hard, constantly tweaking and refining our robot through a true design and re-design process at every competition. Our robot "Spanny" has seen a real transformation this year — from humble beginnings to a lean, mean scoring machine, driven entirely by team collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement.
At the Michigan State Championships we finished 6th overall in skills and reached the quarterfinals — a top-10 finish in the state. Along the way we earned some incredible recognition: 2× Skills Champion at local tournaments, Tournament Champion, Excellence Award, and Judges Award at the Michigan State Championships. We were honored to receive invitations to both the National US C.R.E.A.T.E. Open in Council Bluffs, Iowa and the VEX World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri.
We need your help to fund these experiences so our team can compete against the best in the nation and the world! Donations will cover registration fees, travel, and transportation costs. We would be grateful for your support to help us make our mark on the world's stage!
