#TeamAtsuto - Help Atsuto fight brain tumor
Donation protected
What was supposed to be a routine eye exam for the school entrance health form has led to a 1.6-inch brain tumor (pituitary adenoma) diagnosis for our 9-year-old son Atsuto.
While pituitary adenoma is a benign tumor, it is very rare in children (1 in a million), and doctors will not be able to remove it completely because of its size, shape, and placement near an important artery. Atsuto is already experiencing vision loss, intense headaches, and has been diagnosed with gigantism as a result of the tumor. He needs immediate surgery and treatment.
Atsuto will have surgery to resect his pituitary adenoma on August 3rd, Wednesday. The surgery will probably start at 730 am and last around 4 to 6 hours, although the doctor said it usually takes 2 to 3 hours with this kind of surgery.
Atsuto’s out-of-network health insurance does not even fully cover the initial operation costs. Thus, your contribution would support Atsuto’s operation as well as post-surgery treatment to prevent the tumor from growing again (likely involving heavy medication and radiation). We currently need to raise $50,000 in the next 7 days for him to get an operation, but it is impossible to estimate right now how much the post-surgery treatment costs will amount to.
Your donation will help Atsuto fight his tumor and give him a chance to live his life as a normal kid. Please share with your networks and help us ensure that Atsuto can get the medical care he needs to survive.
