Our friend, an Arab migrant, is in very urgent need for financial support to finish their studies and afford the cost of legal fees due to their recently rejected residence extension. We are trying to raise this amount to help partially pay off their debts, and to sustain their livelihood for a few months while they try to finish their studies.

Our friend is an integral member of the anti-imperialist movement in Berlin, and dedicated over two years of their life following October 2023 to political organising for Palestinian liberation. This has taken a massive toll on their mental health and their ability to do enough paid work, let alone the difficulty of finding work opportunities for someone who has been very vocal about Palestine in Germany. With accumulating debts, bank loans, and increasingly deteriorating mental health, they have not been able to finish their studies.

Recently, due to a politically-charged lawsuit against them from a protest, and the delay in finishing their degree, the immigration authorities have refused to extend their residence. Their whole livelihood in Germany is now being threatened as they face a real likelihood of being deported to their home country where they were previously politically imprisoned, adding extra existential risk to their safety.

Our friend is also now seeking much needed psychiatric treatment, because of increasing anxiety, depression, further triggered PTSD, and very intense sleeping disorders, all actively preventing them from moving on with their life.

These next few months they will be fighting a legal battle against the German state, while no longer having the right to work, while simultaneously rushing to finish writing their thesis, in the hopes that it may help with their appeal.

In summary, we urge you to contribute to their financial support for 3 main aspects:

1. Clearing off the most urgent part of their debt.

2. Contributing to legal fees.

3. Sustaining their most basic livelihood for the next 4-6 months.

Our friend has been severely struggling just to barely survive, but they cannot keep going on in this survival mode on their own any longer. Your support could really save them from a very severe crisis that would define the rest of their life.
