Atlas just turned 3 years old on August 19th, 2025. He is a German Indian dog with the biggest heart and the sweetest soul. The only thing Atlas loves more than the snow is his family. Sadly, he was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.

Atlas lives for winter. If he had his way, he would stay outside all day and night in the cold. Our biggest hope is that with chemo, he will get the chance to see the snow again and spend more time with the family who adores him.

The original estimate for treatment was $10,000, and insurance only covers about $2,400. Because that plan was out of reach, my sister and brother-in-law made the difficult decision to move forward with a more affordable treatment plan that costs $4,600. While it is not the longest option available, it is already helping Atlas feel like himself again, full of energy and love for life. Still, even this reduced cost is more than they can manage on their own. *UPDATE* They have raised enough to try for the more expensive treatment!

They are raising a 20-month-old, expecting another baby in November, and managing daycare, mortgage, and everyday expenses. Atlas was more than just their first dog. My brother-in-law dreamed for years that his first dog would be named Atlas, his adventure pal through all of life’s ups and downs. Their friendship was everything he hoped for, and we are heartbroken that it may end much sooner than it should.

We want Atlas to have more time. More time to run in the snow, to love his family, and to be remembered by their children as the best first dog they could have asked for.
