Atlas’ story:

My name is Atlas. I am a young man who lost my mother at an early age and grew up with the pain of loneliness and the absence of a mother’s love.

My father is an alcoholic, completely distant from me, and has never provided me with any support or care — neither before the war nor during it.

The war has separated me from my siblings and taken away everything I once loved.

It deprived me of the most basic means of a dignified life. I have no source of income to survive, as there is no work in Gaza and I do not have a university degree that would allow me to work remotely. Even my simple belongings and the few things I cherished were destroyed under the bombing.

I was an outstanding student, known for my intelligence and brilliance, and I dreamed of building a bright future for myself.

But the harsh conditions and the devastating war have stolen that chance from me and forced me into a dark reality with little hope.

I am trying to leave Gaza to continue the life that has been put on hold, to begin my university studies that I have not yet started, and to live in safety.

اسمي أطلس، أنا شاب وحيد فقدت والدتي منذ طفولتي المبكرة، ونشأت على شعور الوحدة والحرمان من حنان الأم.

أما والدي فهو مدمن على الكحول، بعيد عني تمامًا، ولم يقدّم لي أي دعم أو اهتمام في حياتي قبل الحرب أو حتى في الحرب.

الحرب فرّقتني عن أخوتي وأبعدتني عن كل ما أحب،

وحرمتني من أبسط مقومات العيش الكريم.

لا أملك أي مصدر دخل أعيش منه، لأنه لا يوجد عمل في غزة ولا أملك شهادة جامعية للعمل عن بعد، كما أن أغراضي البسيطة وأشيائي العزيزة قد دُمّرت تحت القصف.

كنت طالبًا متفوقًا، يشهد الجميع بذكائي ونبوغي، وكان حلمي أن أبني لنفسي مستقبلًا مشرقًا.

لكن الظروف القاسية والحرب القاتلة سلبت مني فرصتي، ودفعتني إلى العيش في واقع مظلم يفتقر إلى الأمل.

أحاول الخروج من غزة لأكمل حياتي التي توقفت داخل القطاع، أكمل دراستي الجامعية التي لم أبدأها بعد، وأن أعيش في أمان.
