Hi. My name is Rebecca and I’m the dog mom of Atlas. An 8 year old husky/golden retriever.

On 4/20/24 his health took a drastic turn. He has a large baseball size mass that is causing him pain when he walks. The mass is cancer and it’s also infected which has caused sepsis.

It’s a moment by moment situation. They plan to do surgery but he will continue to need care in the form of chemo and meds.

Atlas means the world to me and I’m not ready to give up on him yet.

As a big dog, expenses are insane. The bill is already at 7k, and it’ll be another 18k for surgery and care. Any additional treatment and care is what the remaining 25k is going to go towards. *AS I LEARN MORE ABOUT HIS CONDITION THIS AMOUNT IS BEING UPDATED BELOW*

UPDATE 4/22 5:45 pm: Atlas has successfully made it out of surgery. They treated the infection and removed the burst abscess and what they believe is the main site of the tumor. The next 24 hours and subsequent days, he still remains high risk. But I'm hoping for the best. They'll know more about the exact type of cancer he has when the biopsy and cultures come back, and then we'll know more about what his ongoing treatment may look like. UPDATE 4/23 4:20 PM: Atlas is recovering really well! He’ll need to be in the hospital for a few more days because of the tube in his tummy. But he seems eager to get up and loves to walk to the outside area. He isn’t eating but is drinking water and getting lots of rest. Thank you for all the donations so far. His current vet bill is at 22k. I’m continuing to think positive and will keep you all posted.
