Atlas, my beloved dog, suddenly became unable to urinate last week. I took him to our regular vet multiple times, but his condition either got worse or showed no improvement. Things took a turn for the worse when, on Saturday morning, Atlas accidentally pulled out the catheter he had been sent home with. I tried to reach our regular vet clinic, but couldn’t get in touch, so I rushed him to the emergency vet.
Last week alone, I spent a significant amount at the regular vet, and now the emergency vet has admitted Atlas for more intensive care. He will likely need to stay even longer than expected. I’ve already used up all my savings and maxed out my credit cards on other vet bills over the winter, especially since I’ve been laid off from work.
The funds raised will go directly toward Atlas’s hospitalization, IV fluids and medications, proper urinary catherization, a urine culture, and an ultrasound to hopefully find the root cause of his inability to urinate. I am embarrassed to have to ask for donations, but I have no other options left. Any amount will be truly appreciated and will help Atlas get the treatment he needs to recover and, hopefully, come home soon.
