Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am raising funds to help cover medical expenses for my daughter Athena. A week ago, while testing at Yavapai College, Athena experienced sudden blurry vision. By the time I picked her up from school, I knew something was very wrong. Athena was unable to even see my face. I immediately took Athena to the hospital, and her eye pressure was 62 - that is dangerously high and if not treated would result in permanent damage to her vision. She was diagnosed with acute angle glaucoma due to a medication she had taken for migraines. She was rushed by ambulance to Phoenix Children's Hospital and was treated by a pediatric ophthalmologist there. We were able to come home, and she is slowly regaining her vision. She is such a strong young lady and as her mom, my heart just breaks. We are now faced with medical bills including 2 hospitals and an ambulance ride to Phoenix. Unfortunately, our insurance has now informed us that they have canceled our January coverage, so they will not be paying any claims. Athena will need continued follow-ups throughout the coming months, we are asking for help to cover the expenses. We are truly grateful for everyone who has sent prayers and positive thoughts to our family. Any amount truly helps. We thank you.
