This Friday, I experienced my worst nightmare. My fiancé and I were out of town when our dog walker accidentally let Athena, our beloved dog of 10 years, out of the house. We rushed home in the middle of the night as soon as we heard, but Athena had already been outside for almost 24 hours during a terrible storm. When we finally found her, she was in rough shape—she had been attacked by another dog and was clearly in pain. The vet also said it is possible that she was clipped by a car which has caused her back leg to no longer be able to walk. Our first vet visit was 2,000$ and expect her surgery to be an additional $2,000.
Athena is more than just a pet to us; she’s been with me my entire adult life and is truly our whole world. Seeing her hurt and scared broke our hearts. She suffered torn ligaments, needed her rabies shots, had a popped blood vessel in her ear that needs to be drained, and was covered in dog bites that required immediate treatment. On top of that, her body temperature had dropped dangerously low from being out in the cold for so long.
We’re doing everything we can to help Athena recover, but her medical expenses are adding up quickly. If anyone is able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean so much to us. Your support will help Athena get the care she needs to heal and come back home where she belongs. Thank you for reading and for any help you can give.
This money will be used for her vet expenses and physical therapy afterwards. Her first vet visit was 2000$ and her surgery will be another $2000, this doesn’t include all of the extra we have had to purchase including at full size harness to help hold her up while she goes potty.
