This fundraiser was started on behalf of Athena and Justin.
My best friends, a newly engaged couple, were out for a walk on Monday July 7th, 2025, when they were struck by two vehicles at high speeds while waiting at a crosswalk.
Justin stepped in front of Athena to shield his fiancé from the impact.
The fact that this young couple are still alive is a miracle.
Justin and Athena have both undergone surgery to repair potentially life altering external and internal injuries because of the accident.
Previously both working full time, they will be unable to work for the foreseeable future.
Please help this young couple who were getting ready to start their lives together get through such an unfortunate and devastating incident.
All donations will be used for necessities, alleviating the stress of paying rent, bills, and groceries while they recover physically and emotionally.
Above is an article provided for context regarding the incident.
Thank you in advance, anything is appreciated on behalf of my best friends.

Update as of July 23rd:
We wanted to give an update to everyone following the accident. Athena and Justin have now returned home from the hospital and are happy to be recovering in their own environment.
Justin has begun attending physio therapy to help him be able to walk again. He is awaiting a follow up appointment with the surgeon that operated on his wrist. Justin is also awaiting an appointment for dental surgery.
Athena is still unable to walk or stand for longer than a few minutes. She is currently awaiting physio therapy, and in home supports are being arranged for her. Since returning home she is still experiencing extensive amounts of pain. It is difficult for her to move due to her internal injuries. She has had limited mobility since returning home.
Both families are beyond grateful to everyone who has been able to donate thus far, as well as everyone who has spread awareness of this GoFundMe campaign. An additional thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered their support.
