A message from Tiffany & Joanna, Co-Founders of Athena:
On February 1st, 2020 Athena Fitness and Wellness opened its doors to the public with a team of 26 awesome women . Athena is a fitness studio that is on a mission to redefine feminine fitness through community and education about what it means to love our bodies and live our best lives.
As a start-up, we anticipated needing cash flow to sustain us through our first six months. This was with the understanding that we would be building our membership base and growing as a company. COVID-19 erased the membership base we had built, and with fitness studios in Phase 3 of reopening and expenses still existing until then, Athena will not be able to operate much past July without additional financial assistance. We have applied for loans through the SBA and are waiting to hear back. Additionally, we also have applied for many grants, but are not eligible for most because we are such a new company. We will use any money raised for operating costs and for payroll so we can bring back our amazing team.
We are coming to our community now out of necessity knowing that this may be the only way to keep our dream alive. The start of our studio gave us a glimpse of what is possible with Athena. In the short time we were open, we saw relationships formed, and witnessed the strength and determination women have to support themselves and each other. We have been overwhelmed by all of the support everyone has given us. Truly, every word of encouragement, virtual class attended, and dollar donated helps. Thank you so much for believing in the power of community and Athena, and the importance of supporting the health and wellness of all women.
