Help Athena Fight for Her Life

Athena, a 14-month-old German Shepherd/American Bully mix, has been a lifeline for me during my struggles with mental health and PTSD. I adopted her when she was just 5 months old, shortly after an extreme bout with my PTSD that landed me in a mental hospital three times in one month. She has been my constant companion and service dog, helping me manage my symptoms and providing unconditional love. My PTSD stems from an exceptionally traumatic experience during the Covid pandemic, where I cared for a dying grandmother and faced the sudden and tragic loss of a beloved aunt, a close friend, and both grandmothers.
Recently, Athena's health took a sudden turn for the worse. She was diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia, a condition that puts her at high risk of spontaneous bleeding due to a dangerously low platelet count. Over Mother's Day, I noticed Athena's appetite had decreased significantly, and by midweek, her energy levels had dropped. Despite her young age, she was lethargic and uninterested in food. An emergency vet visit revealed her critical condition, and she was immediately admitted to the ICU. Athena's platelet count is alarmingly low, and she has already experienced bleeding, which the vets managed to control temporarily.
The funds raised will cover Athena's existing medical bills and further necessary treatments, including a bone marrow check and potential transfusions. Her condition is urgent, and the costs are expected to be significant. I have already managed to cover a portion of her vet bills with the help of a significant donation and loan from my best friend, but additional costs may be substantial. Athena has been my savior, and now she needs our help to survive this battle. Your support can make a life-saving difference for her.
