Help Asreen Create a Unique Cinematic Experience

Hello everyone,

I’m in preproduction for my third upcoming film to be shot mid october of this year (2024). As an independent filmmaker, who pays out of pocket for my films, I need to ask my community of thinkers and supporters to please consider donating. I shoot on film and will be that way until my last days on this earth, and by doing so, my costs do go up. [Buying the rolls, digitizing the film, requiring more lighting equipment, etc (clearer breakdown below)]

If you are asking yourself, Asreen, why not just shoot on digital? It’s so much cheaper… Well, let me redirect you to the 8mm manifesto by George Kuchar from 1964….

Synopsis: This film tells the story of an outwardly traditional family, dealing with the turmoil of daily repetition interpreted through a meal that the mother continues to cook every day. Over the span of the dinner, tensions rise between each member of the family as they deal with their own issues, layered with the mother unraveling as she is battling with the fear that the opera singer in the room is not seen or heard by the family… is it all in her head?

Film is everything to me, and without your support, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do in an ethical way.

Ethical being: paying my actors, paying for lighting rental without robbing the place, paying for a space to shoot at without again holding people who rent out their spaces hostage, holding negativeland hostage, and so many more crimes I would have to commit to make my dream happen for free!

Without your support, I would be imprisoned for sure!! Thelma and Louise style…

Asreen, why not just get a grant? Good question, but i fear thus far that my grant applications are too absurd for them to grant me a grant. So for now, I fund out of my own pocket, and with the generous donations of my community.

I create, I do what I do, because I have to. If I wasnt able to create work I feel is meaningful, I’d be in a constant state of constipation… like holding in a sneeze… depressed, stinky, unwell…

Money is unfortunately a big part of being able to do what I do, but I will say, I’m able to work with a low budget!

All of this to say, please consider donating and I hope one day we can all look back and laugh about all of this and I can hug you and thank you for being the ones early on who believed in me…
