Greetings Dance Lovers and Dance Supporters. My name is Monica Celeste Johnson M.Ed Certified Public School Dance Teacher for New York State. I have a very successful career in Dance Education and I have been teaching Dance and Movement for over 30 years throughout New York State. I founded the dance program in which I teach within a Title I School District in Westchester, New York.
My main area of focus is foundational dance teachings to the beginner dancer. The styles of dance I specialize in are Ballet, Lyrical, Pointe & Modern Jazz, Proper Body Placement, Stretch, Strength, and Stamina. The students I serve in my teachings are extremely talented, naturally gifted, hard-working, and enthusiastic about their interests in dance. Under my tutelage, many of my students advance quickly, gain confidence and master foundational dance techniques. I am proud to mention that my students audition for distinguished programs such as; Dance Theatre of Harlem, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Hispanico, Harlem School of the Arts, Rock School, and Debbie Allen Dance Academy and they accepted. These are the celebratory moments and fill not only the students and family as well as me with joy, pride, and satisfaction but also the communities they live in as well. However, many times those joys. hopes, dreams, and exuberance are quickly dashed when some students are unable to attend the prestigious programs they are accepted into because of financial constraints. Yes, there are families who are able to absorb the costs of tuition, proper dance uniforms and footwear, travel costs, and costume fees, but many aspiring young dancers and their families are not. I am asking for contributions and donations to assist my students in attending the professional dance training programs that they are accepted into without hesitation, reservation and financial anxiety, and worry. As well, the Pandemic devasted the world in numerous ways, and the artist community was hit extremely hard. We are still in a state of Pandemic Recovery!
