Greetings EveryBODY, I'm Koi (they/them) a fat black, trans, non-binary queer, community member, friend, actvist, educator and aspiring birthworker
Recently, I had to leave my unsafe, racist and homophobic employer. I experienced constant deadnaming, misgendering and racial discrimination from supervisors and cis coworkers. The racial prejudice and anti-black tactics (turning a blind eye to hurtful racial slurs, including but not limited to threats that involved immigration towards Latinx coworkers) were affecting my mental health to the point of visible illness. Complaints and grievances were not taken seriously as 'the black and angry' trope was casted by white individuals in supervisory roles. Several BIPOC employees sought employment elsewhere or just left because the harm and working for less than livable wage were becoming too much.
After putting in a letter of resignation, the next day, without even a response to my said letter; I was escorted out of the building with no warning- as retaliation for speaking up and out about the treatment of myself and colleagues in the workplace a week prior.
About two years ago, after being beaten down from night after night of protesting for our lives in the street. I really struggled with finding another outlet to show up for my community, all while trying to heal from the institutions that make it so hard for BIPOC people to survive in America. I was honored to gain a scholarship to an eight-week chakra course with Brialle Ringer, where I laughed, cried and dreamt alongside 30 beautiful black souls. In the last session, we dreamt of our divine worlds, spoke them aloud and connected them through meditation. The persistent feeling of collectiveness, connectedness and lending power to manifesting our divine selves gave me the strength to step into my calling as a healer, educator and birth worker in my communities. Due to the strains of capitalism and struggling to survive after having COVID fiscally, I haven't had the time or energy to show up and out for my communities as I dream to. I am currently enrolled in a full spectrum doula course and now looking to gain mentorship. I believe in the invigorating spirit of community and have been testimony to 'it takes a village; we all have. I am asking for your support, donations and well wishes as I step into the actualization of my wildest dreams.
Your unwavering support will aid in basic survival needs such as past and due balances for rent, utilities, mental health medication, and copays for doctor's appointments. Funds received via cash app, paypal and venmo will also be added for transparency purposes.
