My entire life since second grade has led up to this moment, going through secondary education all the way to actually getting accepted to med school and attending while finally coming closer to my dream of becoming an OBGYN to lower infant mortality amongst women of color. However the challenge that I'm facing now can simply end my dream before it even starts. I'm in my first semester of med school in University of Medicine and Health Sciences, tuition is $30,000 per semester and I only have 6 semesters in med school before clinical rotations. My school is in St. Kitts but is US Accredited, although it is, it doesn't receive US Federal Aid so loans have to be taken out through Sallie Mae. The issue is that after my family helped cosigned for this semester upon registering for the upcoming semester, my family tried cosigning with me and was denied due to their credit scores and debt to income ratio. As a first year college and now first year medical school student all I am asking for is just for someone to believe in me and my dreams as an aspiring physician of color by donating enough to cover my next upcoming semester's tuition. By donating, you will be not only contributing to my dream but also contributing to the world too, because I plan to serve my community and work towards making the healthcare industry a better place.
