Update from Asmahan (August 16, 2025):

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well.*

I want to sincerely thank you all for your incredible support through my GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity has truly made a difference in my life.

Thanks to your donations, I’ve been able to start using the funds to cover essential needs like university fees, transportation, internet, and daily living expenses. As you may know, we are currently facing severe food shortages, and your support has helped me buy basic items that were missing from my diet—such as milk and other necessities.

Additionally, I’ve used some of the funds to support my family. As many of you know, my father was martyred, and the economic situation here is extremely difficult. I was able to help my mother with some of the money, which meant a lot to us.

I wanted to be transparent and share with you how your contributions are being used. I truly hope you will continue to support me, as the war is still ongoing, and we don’t know what the future holds.

Thank you again for helping feed children and support education and basic needs like food, transportation, and internet. Your kindness gives us strength.

With deep gratitude,
*[Asmhan]*

Asmahan is a 21-year old student from Gaza who was pursuing her bachelors degree in software engineering in Gaza. She is a bright student with high marks in her tawjeehi (senior high school) exams as well as her undergraduate studies. Due to the violence in Gaza, her father was killed and all universities have been destroyed. She has a route to continue her studies in Egypt. This fundraiser aims to raise $36,000 to support her for the entirety of her studies since she will need to begin from year 1. These funds will be used for the exit fee to leave to Gaza which is $5,000, the entire tuition for her studies, and room, board and fees for 5 years. Please make Asmahan's dream a reality and support as much as you can, no amount is too small! I am a friend of Asmahan's cousin and will be sending the funds directly to Asmahan and pay the fees through the contributions. Thank you and please email if any questions.

In Asmahan's own words: I am Asmahan, a 21-year old tawjeehi graduate with a score of 98.7. After tawjeehi, I entered the University in my city–Gaza– in the department of computer engineering. I had a grade point average of 95.9 and was on my way to achieve my dream until the war in Gaza which stopped my university for a full-year. I do not know when this war will end and how many years will be lost. Dad, who was the only breadwinner to me and my nine sisters, was lost and after his loss I thought I could not complete my dream to be a successful engineer. First, because the lack of funds, and second, because the lack of universities in my city. So I have decided to start from zero to earn a bacherlor's degree in software engineering and join university outside my city, which requires tuition and living funds. I decided to join Egyptian universities, but I need help from those with a kind heart and from every person who believes in the importance of education because we know education can build what was destroyed and I do not want to lose my future. I ask if you can contribute whatever you can to help me achieve my dream to complete a 5-year bachelors degree that I thought would be impossible."
