Did you know that YOU can help parrot conservation without even leaving your home?
Área de Soltura Monitorada de Fauna de Cambaquara (ASM) is located on the Brazilian island of Ilhabela.
They carry out important conservation and welfare work with multiple bird species on the island:
Mealy Amazon Parrots
Maroon-bellied Conures
Many species of endemic songbirds
Owls
Toco Toucans
And many, many more
They are experiencing rising numbers of wild birds being brought to them with trauma caused by the modernisation of buildings……. Larger windows!
As a result, their facility struggling to keep up with the demand
To be able to continue to effectively rescue, rehabilitate and release these incredible and beautiful species of birds ASM NEEDS YOUR HELP!
They desperately need another large flight aviary to be able to provide the best care they can to these birds.
The aviary will be used to allow injured birds (parrots, toucans and more) to exercise and gradually build up their muscles and lungs as well as acclimatising them back into the wild after their hospitalisation.
This work is so, SO important to the larger conservation and environmental projects!
ASM are working so hard to make sure native species to the island do not go into decline because of the increased demand for housing.
Can you spare £1 to help this cause?
With construction costs, ASM estimates that R$60,000 (BRL) will be needed to fund a new aviary.
(£8,000 GBP/$11,000 USD/ €9,000 EUR)
