Hello, my name is Ashton. I am 22 years old. I suffered a work accident in 2023 at 19 years old that left me paralyzed. I had to be life-flighted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. There, my world was suddenly turned upside down. My family was notified that I crushed my C5 vertebrae, damaging my spinal cord with multiple head injuries. I had to be resuscitated twice due to my lung collapsing. I spent five months in the ICU on a ventilator. When I finally woke up, I tried to get out of bed and realized that I could not move my arms, legs, or body. I was a quadriplegic. The only movement I had was moving my head side to side. I was devastated and became depressed, thinking, 'I am only 19 years old and my life is over.' All these months, my dad had been at my bedside. He quit his job to be with me. After the ventilator and all the machines were removed, I started many different therapies. I eventually got over my depression with the help of a therapist. I am still receiving physical and occupational therapy, which has shown so much improvement. I have been speaking with a doctor that specializes in stem cell regeneration, and she suggested that with my youth and the level of injury, I would benefit tremendously from stem cells. This procedure is very expensive and I live on a fixed income. I would love to be able to walk again and have sensations in my arms and legs and to regain some of my independence back. I would appreciate any help that you can donate to assist me in paying for the stem cell therapy. I know that God is not through with me yet, and there is much more I have to give to the world.
