Help Ashton Ride Again

My name is Kathy Petze and another important member of our Moto community, Ashton Arruda, needs our help. I know our special community will show up for Ashton and his family as we all have in the past for other riders that also needed our help. For anyone who does not know the whole story, here it is:

This past March while Ashton was in Daytona for the Supercross event that he trained vigorously and very competitively for, did not end with a podium like he planned. He was well on his way, coming in First Place in all his heats. He was the one to watch as usual. Unfortunately his plans took an unexpected turn when he had a serious accident and he crashed in his first Main event on March 8th. It was pretty gnarly and that ended his racing in Daytona. He was in severe pain and got checked out in the medical tent and was told it was just a pulled groin and nothing was broken, despite x-rays that were taken. Ashton suffered in pain the whole ride home from Florida back to Massachusetts where his parents drove straight to the hospital in Fall River and Fall River transferred him right away to Children's in Boston by ambulance. It turned out he broke his left hip, shattered his femoral head, broke his L5 and a rib. His first surgery was March 12th. Second surgery was September 7th and he had a major reconstruction of this right femoral head with 5 bone graphs. This is their last hope for preserving his right hip. If this surgery does not work, he will be having a hip replacement at the young age of just 16. He has spent countless days in bed and then a wheelchair, back to the hospital and back to bed again. He never complains and has a great attitude. He just wants to get better and ride again! As you can figure out by this story, the family has incurred exorbitant medical bills and will continue to until Ashton is well again. It's too much for one family to deal with and it has been continuing on since March 8th. Let's help lift the burden for the Arruda Family and donate whatever we can to "Help Ashton Ride Again !"
