Aloha :) My name is Angelene, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my partner, Ashton, someone whose strength, dedication, and heart inspire me every day.
Those who know Ashton have seen firsthand the way his energy and light brighten every room he enters. He’s an inspiration to kids and men alike — encouraging men to train with purpose, embrace their strength, and move with confidence. At the same time, he is the ‘neighborhood Spider-Man,’ patiently guiding kids through acrobatic moves, teaching them balance and coordination, and showing them the joy of moving fearlessly and safely. He’s an incredible diver and manta ray tour guide in the Pacific Ocean, a fearless adventurer who rollerblades, skates, skis, climbs, hunts, and snowboards. He’s a ray of sunshine in so many lives, always active and always on his feet.
Recently, everything changed. A complex knee injury, the result of a sports injury years ago that built up over time, has left him unable to move the way he always has — a devastating shift for someone whose life is defined by motion, adventure, and teaching others to move with joy and purpose. His MRI shows a partial-to-full thickness ACL tear, a bucket-handle meniscus tear, and a parameniscal cyst caused by swelling and irritation. This injury requires highly specialized surgery from an orthopedic sports-medicine surgeon — someone experienced in handling complex knee injuries like his. Unfortunately, accessing that level of care here in Hawaii has proven nearly impossible, despite our efforts with local resources and insurance.
To protect his long-term mobility, health, and the ability to continue inspiring others, Ashton needs to travel to the mainland for surgery. This involves major out-of-pocket expenses: consultations, travel, lodging, and the surgery itself.
We’re asking for support to help him:
• Reach a trusted specialist
• Cover the cost of treatment
• Travel safely and recover properly
• Get back on his feet and return to the active, vibrant life that means so much to him
Ashton has always relied on his body — for work, for play, for teaching, for love, and for adventure. Losing that mobility so suddenly has been overwhelming, but he is determined to heal, rebuild, and keep inspiring everyone around him.
Any contribution, share, or word of encouragement makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping Ashton move toward healing, hope, and strength again.
