A few weeks ago, Ashton and his mom Amy experienced a devastating flood in their home. A pipe broke in the condo above theirs while no one was home, causing water to pour in and destroy much of what they owned. They were forced to move into a hotel for nearly three weeks, and the damage to their home was extensive. Most of their furniture, bedding, books, and many of Ashton’s cherished items—including his toys and Pokémon cards—were lost.

After the flood, all the floors were torn out, followed by the walls and ceilings. The situation became even more complicated when asbestos was discovered, putting everything on hold. There’s still no power in the condo, and they have been told it could be 8–12 months before they are able to return home. Ashton and Amy have finally moved into a partially furnished rental, but the transition has been emotionally, physically, and financially exhausting. Amy has unfortunately lost wages due to time away from work and running out of PTO related to both this situation and a recent surgery. Ashton and Amy miss their home deeply, and this has been a huge hardship for their family.

The funds raised will help pay for new clothes, bedding, books, toys, furniture, and costs of some of the repair of the damanged home not covered by insurance. If we can come together as a community and help support them, I know it would mean a great deal and help them greatly through this tough time.
