My Brother Ashraf (Bishal) is Fighting for His Life
My name is Tanvir Hasan Sadi, and this is the hardest thing I have ever had to write. I am reaching out with a desperate plea for my dearest brother in life, Ashraf Mahmud (Bishal) who is now fighting for his life against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) an aggressive, fast-moving blood cancer.
◾️ Who Ashraf Is
For more than 18 years, Ashraf and I have been inseparable; same school, same college, same neighborhood. He has never been just a friend to me; he is my brother in every sense. I have seen him endure trials that would break most people:
• He lost his beloved mother to cancer after a long and painful battle.
• Just two years later, his father died suddenly of a stroke.
• As the only brother to four sisters (two elder, two younger), Ashraf became their guardian, protector, and only support.
• On top of that, he struggled in career, finances, and personal life, yet never once complained.
Despite this unimaginable burden, Ashraf was always the one smiling, lifting others, and being a light to everyone around him. At every gathering, he brought joy, even when his own heart was breaking. He lived with sabr (patience) and tawakkul (trust in Allah).
Today, this same Ashraf, who never stopped smiling for others needs us to bring his smile back, by the Will of Allah. ⸻
⚠️ His Current Condition Recently, Ashraf was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). His blood report shows:
• White blood cell count critically high (86,400/µL with ~62% atypical blast cells)
• Severe anemia (Hemoglobin 8.6 g/dL)
• Dangerously low platelets (57,000/µL)
Doctors warned: “Time is running out. AML is measured in days, not months.” Reports from Square Hospital Dhaka, Ibn Sina Hospital, and Evercare Hospital all confirm the same urgent need for treatment. He requires immediate chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant, something not possible at the required speed in Bangladesh.
⸻
⚕️ Where Treatment is Possible After consultation, we have secured acceptance from Lu Daopei Hospital in China, one of the world’s leading leukemia & transplant centers.
Estimated Costs:
• Diagnostics & molecular profiling: $4,000–5,000
• Chemotherapy (induction + consolidation): $46,000–55,000
• Bone marrow transplant (HSCT): $150,000
• Travel, donor search, accommodation, complications: $200,000–210,000 (~2.6–2.8 Crore BDT) This is far beyond what his sisters, family, and friends can bear alone.
⸻
◾️ How You Can Help We are begging you, donate whatever you can, share with others, and make dua for Ashraf. No contribution is too small. Every taka, euro, dollar, and prayer brings him closer to life. And also please keep him in your prayers.
