My name is Ashlynn, and I am transgender. Ever since I was 10 years old, my secret wish has been for my underwear to be flat in the front.
Back in 1991, I didn't know the word transgender. I didn't know what that wish meant. Not until recently.
But now, I know. That wish for flat underwear was my brain recognizing that I was born with a few spare parts.
And now I have an opportunity to get rid of a few of those parts. To make my underwear flatter. To get closer to what that 10yo prayed for.
An orchiectomy is a relatively simple procedure. Similar to a vasectomy, but the testicles are completely removed. It's outpatient surgery. In and out in a couple hours.
And with my insurance, it will only cost a bit over a grand.
But here's the kicker. I work in construction. It's a tough job, and not something I can do while healing from surgery. My boss is willing to work with me somewhat, but there will be 2-3 weeks where I will be unable to work at all.
That's where this gets expensive. I figure about $3500 should do the job.
I had a consultation with the surgeon on Friday, and I could have surgery as soon as December.
This has been on my radar for a few months now. I've been trying to save up for it. But you know the intro to the movie Up? Carl and Ellie are saving up for their trip to Paradise Falls, but then unexpected expenses keep popping up, forcing them to spend their savings.
That's kind of been my life this year with a plumbing emergency, and having to get a new furnace. All while being the primary income for a family of 5.
My saving account has $167 in it. Just a bit short lol
So, please, help me Obi-wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
