Ashlyn Hehir was living her best life, studying at Dance College and building a future around her passion. But in an instant, everything changed. She suddenly experienced facial paralysis and weakness down her left side, and after several days in hospital was diagnosed with FND – Functional Neurological Disorder.

FND is a problem with how the brain receives and sends information to the rest of the body.

This condition has taken away much of what Ashlyn once knew. What started with needing a cane to walk soon escalated, when a few weeks later she suffered another episode of convulsions that left her confined to a wheelchair. For someone so young, vibrant, and full of drive, this sudden loss has been heartbreaking.

Yet through it all, Ashlyn has shown incredible resilience. She continues to fight every day to adapt, to stay positive, and to reclaim her independence. But with her condition, she’s no longer able to work or support herself as she once did. The financial strain adds another layer of challenge to an already overwhelming journey.
