My daughter Ashlyn is a sophomore in college, studying music education. She’s always had a passion for music—while other teens blasted the latest pop or rap, Ashlyn filled our home and car with Disney musicals. Her dream is to teach music to teenagers and become a band director, sharing her love of music with the next generation.

Ashlyn has been working incredibly hard to pay her way through school. She’s taken on part-time jobs, played gigs with her school band, and even donated plasma just to cover the costs that her federal aid, loans, and scholarships don’t reach. Our family—her father, older brother, and I—have helped as much as we can, but the remaining tuition and book expenses have been a heavy burden. This semester, she’s been making frequent payments to keep up with her college costs and we've just found out that next year costs is going up.

The funds raised here will go directly toward Ashlyn’s tuition and books. Right now, she’s sharing textbooks with her roommate, and the stress of making those frequent tuition payments is taking a toll. I want her to be able to focus on her studies and her music, not just on making ends meet. I didn’t come on here lightly—I’ve thought long and hard about starting a GoFundMe, but I’ve seen others helped on this platform. I’m not asking for more than anyone can afford—even pennies add up.
