Hi! My name is Ashlyn and I’m currently a junior in high school and an active member of DECA, a business and leadership organization that prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship. This year, I was selected by my advisor to attend the Leadership Academy at the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta. Only 7 students were chosen out of around 70 members in my chapter, so this is a really special and rare opportunity for me.

DECA has truly made me who I am today. When I first joined, I struggled with social anxiety and speaking to new people felt really overwhelming. Through DECA, I’ve been pushed outside of my comfort zone, and even though it was scary at times, it helped me grow so much. I’ve gained confidence, communication skills, and friendships that have changed me for the better. Attending ICDC would allow me to continue growing as a leader, meet students from around the world, and represent my school at an international level. I’m incredibly grateful to have been selected.

However, the trip is expensive and includes travel, hotel, and conference registration costs. I’m working to raise funds to help cover these expenses. Any support truly means so much to me.
