Help Ashley's Son Find Peace and Comfort

Donation protected
I am raising funds to help my Partner, Ashley, whose son, Daxton is in hospice care. He has a medulloblastoma (brain cancer) that was diagnosed in July 2020. Daxton was airlifted to the Children's Hospital the night he was diagnosed and had emergency surgery the very next day. He has had numerous chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He was in remission in 2022, and things had started to look up, but then tragedy struck again. He was diagnosed with more and multiple resurgences of cancer in his brain and spinal cord. Surgery was not an option this time, as the masses were too small and too numerous to operate on without significant damage to the healthy tissue. Thus began the chemotherapy again. In 2023, Daxton was admitted into a trial for an experimental treatment that had strong potential to help him and someday others who suffer from this terrible disease. In mid-2024, he started having seizures. Though there were many CTs and MRIs to monitor his tumor's condition, and the medication did help for a while, cancer proved to be a nightmare. Medications to mitigate and stabilize his brain have worked for a while, but even with the small army of doctors caring for him, the tumors are still growing, and symptoms are getting worse. I fear that we may not see another year with this sweet young man.

The surgery and treatments have taken a significant toll on Daxton's mind and body. However, his spirit has remained undaunted. Daxton is the most compassionate, caring, and selfless young man I have ever had the pleasure to meet. His smile and giggle still light up the room such that you could forget he was ever sick. He loves video games, such as Pokémon, Fortnite, and Smash Brothers (he kicks my butt every time). He rarely passes the opportunity to play with others and is gracious in victory and in defeat. All through his daunting journey, he has held his head high and with a smile, so his mother and big sister wouldn't have to worry about him. Daxton truly has the mentality of a winner.

Unfortunately, earlier this month, things have taken a major turn for the worse. His seizures have become close to uncontrollable, and the tumors are growing. Although we knew the likely outcome of this disease from the start, watching it become a reality is indescribable. There are no words to describe just how heartbreaking it is to watch Daxton slide down this slope. The absolutely gut-wrenching decision to cut off treatment had to be made. It was made to give him as much peace and comfort as humanly possible in his last remaining time with us.

While Daxton is in hospice, Ashley is finding it difficult to focus on the things we would consider common, like work and bills. You know, the regular adult stuff we face on the daily. If you could find it in your heart to help support her, her son, and her daughter during this time, it would be much appreciated.
