HELP ASHLEY ZEMORA FIGHT CANCER
Ashley is one of those people that we are all so thankful for her to be in our lives. She is kind, loving and is always working hard for her family, friends and martial arts students. At the gym, she is a dedicated 3rd degree black belt that puts her heart and soul into training and helping her students become the best they can be. She is always there to help others and go the extra mile. For someone like Ashley, it can be hard to accept that she is the person that now needs our help. So we wanted to show up here for her and help ease the burden of going through this process. Lets show her through our positive support, and if possible and you can help financially that would be amazing.
How this came about:
When Ashley experienced swelling in her neck and difficulty breathing, she thought a trip to the doctor was in order. Then on November 27th the Zemora family received the news no one wants to hear…. “Ashley has Lymphoma “. As a wife and mother of 4 growing boys, she knew this was going to change their lives from an independent and active one, to one of dependence on family and friends while navigating the healthcare requirements of fighting Cancer.
The next 6 weeks was a roller coaster ride of CT scans, blood work, Lymph biopsy, PET scan and a bone marrow biopsy. After much “rush and wait”, Ashley finally got all tests back to find out she has Stage 2B Hodgkins Lymphoma and she was “in the queue” to begin Chemotherapy . The initial treatment schedule is an estimated 6 month chemotherapy treatment plan (dependent on how well her body responds). Side effects of chemotherapy include extreme fatigue, nausea, hair loss and a compromised immune (along with a whole lot more too many to mention ). Running any household with 4 boys between 9 and 14 years of age can be tiring while in good health, but managing this and a regime of healthcare appointments, fatigue and chemotherapy is proving to be a little overwhelming.
Family has been stepping in to help with driving kids to/from school, getting Ashley to appointments, general house cleaning and some meal prep but more help is needed.
Medication needed while undergoing chemotherapy is expensive and although there is some help through government programs it is limited in what it will cover. In addition, regular and thorough cleaning will be critical to minimize risk of infection while the immune system is compromised and added support in this area will be necessary. There will also be a reduction in Ashley’s ability to maintain her regular work schedule putting additional financial pressures on the family at this difficult time.
For this reason we are asking that you partner with us to financially assist the Zemora family to help offset the added costs and support needed during this difficult time.
Thank you so much for all your words of encouragement so far and, for any size financial gift…please accept ours thanks with much gratitude for making a difference in Ashley’s fight against Cancer and we appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts at this time!!
