Help Ashley with Lisfranc surgery & recovery
Hi there, my name is Ashley Perkins. I’m 34 years old, and a medical Social worker. I have spent the pandemic doing nursing home social work, and now find myself in need of serious help. It isn’t easy for me to ask, but my health circumstances have hit a point where I now have no choice. In the last month, I had a ruptured cyst, a benign tumor on my liver, and surgery with which I used all of my accumulated sick / vacation time. On Monday, April 26th, I fell off my front steps heading to work. Immediately after the fall, I could not stand up. I went to the hospital to find out that I have a lisfranc ligament tear and damage to the metatarsal bones in my foot. It was explained to me that the lisfranc ligament helps hold the metatarsal bones in place. In two days since the accident, on my right foot, the space between my big toe and the next toe has continued to widen, and I am in extreme pain.
I am currently in a cast, and surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, April 29th, 2021. I was told that I will be non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks, and put of work at a minimum of 4 weeks, and then may be able to return to work with a rollator, if I put my knee on it and scoot myself around. Short term disability will not kick in for at least two weeks, and even then, is only a percentage of my pay. I have been paycheck to paycheck before this happened, and now I have no choice but to ask for help, as otherwise I have no way to get through this. I have no available sick or vacation time since my last surgery. I am absolutely desperate for any help anyone can provide, and am willing to try to repay both financially or however I can once I get through this. I know that times are hard for everyone right now, and I so understand if you are unable to donate. Even so, I would appreciate sharing this fundraiser more than I can express. I’m a fur mom to two cats who mean the world to me and will also be by my side through this. I will add more pictures and information about my condition to this campaign. With any money raised, I will pay my rent, groceries, car insurance (even though I’m restricted from driving for 6-7 weeks), car payment, utilities,hospital bills, Ubers to get to appointments, medication, cell phone bill, and the equipment I will need to eventually be mobile again!
