My dear friend Ashley's youngest son, Aiden, has a rare primary immunodeficiency disease, Hyper IgE Syndrome (also known as Job Syndome). This puts him at a much higher risk for infections than an average child. 

Last week, Aiden was diagnosed with mastoiditis with the added complications of a brain abscess and clotting of one of the veins in his brain. He had surgery on June 21st and is recovering beautifully in the PICU at the University of Virginia (UVA) Hospital. 

Ashley, a single mother, has been by his side 24/7. Currently, there is no immediate discharge plan. When Aiden is discharged, he will go home with a PICC line and ongoing antibiotic treatments. He will likely need to remain out of daycare for weeks to months. 

I am raising funds to help Ashely cover costs associated with the hospitalization as well as to assist her with paying household bills. Ashley will soon exhaust her paid time off of work and will have the added expense of hiring appropriate in-home child care.
