Help Ashley Stay at George Mason University

Hi, my name is Ashley. I'm 20 years old and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications. I am hoping to begin my sophomore year at George Mason this fall, but due to a past balance, I am unable to register for classes. Because of this, I have until August 30th to raise enough money to release the hold on my account.

I began my college journey in the fall of 2019, but after my first semester, I was forced to take a gap year to work and pay off the bill for that semester. All of 2020 I worked to pay off the balance, even in the midst of the 2020 COVID Lockdown that caused me to lose my job. I eventually met my goal, paid off my balance, and in the Spring of 2021, I officially finished my first year of college on the Dean's List with a 3.5 GPA.

Unfortunately, during the pandemic, college tuition at my school increased, and the bill this time is much larger. I am hoping to begin my sophomore year at George Mason this fall, but due to a past balance, I am unable to register for classes. I have been given a deadline of August 30th to raise enough money to resolve the hold on my account, otherwise, I will be forced to go back home.

Additionally, over the summer, I decided to apply to work for housing as Community Assistant for this year ( Fall 2021/Spring 2022). I interviewed and received the job opportunity, and moved in to live on campus a week before the regular move-in week, for staff training. However, because of this past balance, I am at risk of losing both my housing and my job.

I have already made so many connections and relationships during my time training for this job, and as a result, I have so much hope and anticipation for this year. Not only do I have the opportunity to build my leadership skills, but also the chance to impact so many lives in my community, something that is very close to my heart.

I would be the first in my immediate family on the path to complete college.

We have tried every single option, and this GoFundMe is the last resort. This money will pay off my past balance so that I can register for classes this Fall. Anything helps, and if you are unable to donate, I would greatly appreciate it if you shared this as much as possible!
