Help Ashley Seek Justice for Dozer's Tragic Loss

Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm Dozer's mommy. Dozer was my 4 month old puppy that was mauled by our neighbors 2 husky through the fence. At this point Dozer has NO RIGHTS. I am determined to ensure my neighbor is held accountable on behalf of my baby boy Dozer.

Let me tell yall about the night pure evil took over in the backyard. December 23, 2024 I was at work and I recieved a text message from my 78 yr old mother that said "Dozer is Dead Raul's dogs ate him" I left work and I rushed home. I ran into her bedroom where I found her crying and I asked her what happened. She turned to me and said " they ate him he's gone. I let him out to go potty and I went in to get his toy from the living room and I heard him bark then scream. I ran back out there and the dogs ate him. It all happened just that fast."

I went outside and looked around in the yard and didn't see anything and I went back in the house. I asked my mother if the police were called . She said 'Yes the police and animal control came and the police said it was a civil matter and they left. The animal control walked the fence line and said there was nothing they could do because this was the first report and the dogs were in their own backyard. And they left and didn't issue a ticket or take the dogs. They did absolutely nothing. I went out in the yard again and was trying to make sense of everything and while I was crying I heard a faint whimper. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me and about that time the neighbor came knocking at the door. I went and talked to him and all he said was " Im sorry Ashley. I dont know what got into my dogs." I yelled at him and said " HE WAS JUST A BABY IN HIS OWN BACKYARD. HE WAS JUST A BABY!!! WHERE ARE HIS REMAINS? COULD YALL NOT PICK UP HIS REMAINS? DID ANIMAL COLTROL TAKE HIM? THERE IS NO WAY THEY ATE HIM AND HE DIDN'T VANISH IN THIN AIR" He then looked at me and said " IDK I never seen the body but my wife said they tore off his leg through the fence and they ran off with it" I stood there in disbelief because nobody knows where the remains went and he's standing there drinking a cold beer like we are at a party. I told him to get off my property and to keep a close eye on his dog's. I went in and got a flashlight and went out back and started looking again. Something caught the corner of my eye and I pointed the light and there was my baby Dozer sitting straight up in between a piece of plywood and the outside wall of the house. HE WAS STILL ALIVE. It was him that I heard earlier. I ran next door and pounded on the door. The wife came to the door and I told her I had found Dozer and I needed a ride to the vet because he was still alive. She looked at me and said " what do you want me to do, its late"

I yelled " take me to the vet he's suffering." She then shut the door in my face and never returned to the door. I rushed Dozer to the after hours vet. When we got there they rushed us to the back and they couldnt believe he was still alive. They first told me that he's a puppy and he could adjust to living with 3 legs. But it would take time. They then took him back to do x-rays and when they came back into the room they were both crying. They said I needed to make a choice and he was alot worse than they originally thought. Not only was his front leg completely gone but his back leg was barley hanging on. I told them he didn't deserve any of this and there was no way I would let him hurt anymore. So I made the choice to euthanize him. I held Dozer and I promised his he was a good boy and it wasn't his fault. I also promised him I would make sure that the neighbor would be held accountable for his monsters doing this to him. At that point Dozer started wagging his tail and tried standing up and kissed me on the face. The nurses said " oh my Gosh he loves life so much." I told them "please he doesn't deserve this. Please don't let him hurt anymore." At that point they did as I wished and he was gone. I didn't have the money to cremate him and I had no choice but to leave him there for them to dispose of him. On Christmas morning I confronted my neighbor and his wife. I told him their dogs were murderers and I couldn't believe they couldn't even give us a ride that night. I pointed to my tree in the front yard and I said 'Do you remember what's under that tree? That is where I told you that you could burry your 3rd dog a few years ago. Your yard is all pavement, so I let you bury your dog in my yard because I know how much you loved him. Every time these monsters get out of the fence you panic because you know they are going to kill something. You always come get me and I help you find them. These dogs kill something every chance they get and nobody says anything because we respect you. And now they have torn my Dozer apart just because they were bored, they think everything is a toy. Now I'm stuck with a tremendous bill."

He then looked at me and said " your puppy shouldn't have pounced on the fence and his leg wouldn't have went through the chain link and they wouldn't have grabbed him. I'm not responsible for your vet bill."

So here we are months later and he still refuses to help pay any of the vet bill and doesn't think any of this is a big deal. I refuse to let them think this is okay or normal.

PLEASE I am asking for help to hire a lawyer to prove to them that Dozer does have rights. EVERY animal has rights to live a safe life in their own yard without fear. And to show them that they are responsible for how their dogs behave. Its NOT okay to have aggressive dogs. WE as pet owners have a responsibility to keep everyone and everything out of harms way. NONE OF THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED AND COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. Dozer deserves justice and EVERY pet owner needs to know what their responsibilities are. I hate that this happened, but I will make sure that Dozer's name is well known and I will consider him a hero at this point because his story will save another pet somewhere along the line. His name will be the reason why vicious dog owners are held accountable.
