Help Ashley Secure a Mobility Van
Donation protected
In November of 2022 Ashley was diagnosed with Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy at the age of 39 years old after 6 years of being misdiagnosed with glycogen storage disease type 7. Ashley felt her body becoming weaker and weaker and decided to go see a new personal care provider who sent her to neuromuscular doctors who determined she had Muscular Dystrophy. Since her diagnosis, she has had numerous doctors appointments, physical therapy and occupational therapy appointments but nothing has helped slow the progression. Ashley is now 42 years old with two girls who are 8 and 5 years old and has a wonderful, strong, and devoted husband who has incurred most if not all household responsibilities because of this disease.
Ashley and I met in college in one of our accounting classes about 20 years ago and have been best of friends ever since. We went through pregnancy together as well as experiencing the joys of motherhood together and now watching our children grow and become friends!
Ashley is currently using a walker or wheelchair and is not able to go anywhere unless someone can assist. Ashley has received a motorized wheelchair through insurance to help her lead a more independent life but is not able to use until Ashley and her family can buy a mobility vehicle for her to use.
They are currently looking at a used Chrysler Pacifica van which would cost around $60,000 once outfitted for her needs. Ashley has researched avenues for help and assistance but has not been successful as of yet. Ashley currently is working and would like to continue to work as long as possible, but the hurdles of getting to and from work are getting very difficult.
Ashley and her husband’s income is enough to support their family but they need some support with these unexpected costs associated with Ashley’s diagnosis. If you are able to contribute in any way, Ashley and her family will be extremely grateful. Any funds raised would go towards the costs of purchasing a mobility vehicle.
Ashley’s positive attitude through all of this and her strength to be the best possible role model to her two girls has been truly amazing to see and I just want to take some of the financial burden off her shoulders. Thank You!
