Hello my name is Danielle and I’m writing to tell a story about one of my best friends, Ashley Welkey.
I have known Ashley for about 8 years which also happens to be 2 years after her 1st open heart surgery.
After each year that went by, we learned we had a lot in common. Over the years, we have shared laughter, cries, and disappointments. Having a best friend means a lot. A type of friend you can share secrets with or ask advise. Ashley was always there for me when I needed a friend. Ashley is one of the most sweetest, kind hearted person you could ever have. If anyone deserves support, it’s Ashley.
She was told her heart surgery would last 30 years. She came to find that it’s not true and now she has to undergo another open heart surgery to survive. Once she heals from this surgery she will need another surgery to correct her racing heart issue. She is only 32 years old. Ashley has other difficulties including arthritis, racing heart, shortness of breath, and she’s going blind. She is not able to work due to all of her health issues and doctors appointments. She has been turned down by social security, so basically has no income.
I’m scared for her and I try not to show her that. All I can do is be there for her and be a good friend.
I’ve watched Ashley become weaker and weaker each week that goes by. I’ve watched her go from doctor’s appointment to doctor’s appointments, 1-3 times per week.
We finally heard from her heart doctor. One out of four, four being the worst, that she is in need of surgery as soon as possible.
Her up coming surgery is scheduled for February 10th which is next month. I would like to reach out and ask for donations for her as her insurance may not cover her surgery and she is in so much medical debt. I am trying to raise money for her to help offset her cost. Any amount you can offer is appreciated. Please share with others.
