Ashley Carbaja is a proud Colorado native and a dedicated Special Olympics athlete. I know Ashley through her mother, Lesa Carbajal, who is my co-worker at Child Welfare. For the past 20 years, Ashley has shown incredible commitment and passion, participating in swimming, basketball, track, and now bocce ball. Her hard work has earned her several medals at the state level, and she continues to inspire everyone around her with her determination and sportsmanship.
Recently, Ashley received the incredible honor of being selected as one of only 86 athletes to represent Colorado at the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota in 2026. She is one of four athletes chosen for the Bocce Team, and this opportunity means the world to her and her family. However, participating in the Games comes with significant expenses, including travel, lodging, meals, ground transportation, equipment, and in-state training. Additionally, Ashley’s mother, Lesa, will need to take eight days off work to support her daughter in Minneapolis, which adds to the financial challenge.
We are reaching out to our community to help make Ashley’s dream a reality. Your support will not only help cover the costs of this once-in-a-lifetime experience but will also allow Ashley to represent Colorado on a national stage, promoting her spirit, perseverance, and love for the Special Olympics. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings Ashley one step closer to Minnesota. Thank you for believing in her journey and for helping us share her story with the world.
