Hi, I’m Ashley. I was diagnosed with sarcoma in August 2023. I’ve been through many treatments like chemo, radiation, and a lumbar fusion. My lumbar fusion was in August 2024. After that, I was using a walker. I got to where I was using a cane and doing better for a while. Then in January 2025 my mobility started getting worse. I had to use the walker again and couldn’t walk or stand for long. Recently (3 weeks ago so end of April), I went into the hospital for a lot of pain. My mobility quickly went downhill and it became impossible to stand. They did an MRI and found out the cancer was in my spine at the L1 level pushing on my nerves. I can no longer move my legs at all. I can’t stand or walk, and I need a lot of help. I can still feel my legs a little, but they have a lot of numbness. I’m currently at Tirr Memorial Hermann getting therapy and learning how to function this way. I will likely never walk again according to the doctor. I’m getting around pretty good in the wheelchair though. My expected discharge date is 5/29. I’m planning to move back in with my parents for a while so I have extra help. We need funds for equipment and a bathroom. Insurance will cover a lot of what I need like the hospital bed, wheelchair, and lift but not everything. There is currently no bathroom I can fit a wheelchair or hoyer lift into to allow me to go to the bathroom or shower. We want to build a fully handicap bathroom that I can use. We also got a handicap van from my uncle that needs fixing up. We would use funds to get the van ready for me. I appreciate everyone who is able to help out! If you can’t give, please pray for me as well. I’m giving my best to get better and trying to stay positive in this bad situation.
