Help Ashley kick colorectal cancer's ass and #beatcancer

We are the friends of Ashley Williams and we’ve got her back but she needs your help.

Cancer has struck our dear friend Ashley Williams.

If only we could make some sense of this. Why her? Why now? Why? Why? Why?

We will get straight to the point. She has stage IV colorectal cancer. The cancer that shouldn’t strike young women in their early 30s. It’s the hidden cancer. The cancer that according to her doctor had probably been lurking and growing in her body since her 20s, all without her knowing anything was wrong. There is no current preventative screening for colon cancer for people in their 20s and 30s. There was no way for her to know this was even happening until the tumor started to progress. It caught everyone as a complete and total shock.

Since diagnosis in May of 2021, Ashley has endured a range of treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation and cyst removal surgery. If anyone is familiar with cancer you know this means lots and lots of doctors appointments and lots of tests and treatments, usually lasting all day long most days. Ashley is single, so she is still trying to work her occupational therapy job when she can, taking unpaid leave when necessary, to seek treatment. She needs to keep her health insurance and keep that stability while she is fighting this awful disease. However, even with a job and health insurance, when you have cancer, the bills still rack up very quickly and continue to over the whole process. A lot of the procedures she has already had, including fertility preservation, were not covered by health insurance and she has had to pay totally out of pocket to have them done. She needs our love, prayers, and any help anyone is able to give, to help relieve any stress we can, so she can stay strong and fight fight fight this!!

The friend that’s always game for an adventure: The answer to “do you want to go to…” was always YES! Ashley loves to always be busy, on the go, and traveling are her favorite adventures!

The sporty friend and loyal teammate: The girl at second who can turn a double play with the best of em. And the tiny batter at the plate who knows when to “get little”.

The friend behind the bar: She’s the girl behind the bar with a big bright smile making sure your drink is never empty. In addition to her full-time work as an in-home care occupational therapist, she’s worked at Small Bar in Charlotte for many years.

The chill friend: She’s the friend that takes everything in stride and while this cancer diagnosis has been a tough thing to take, she’s a fighter and we know she is strong enough to beat this.

And now for the ASK. Ashley never asked for anything and even now she struggles with asking for help. But that’s what friends are for. We are doing the asking, the humbling pleading for her.

She’s already had a lot of bills not covered by insurance, things she never thought she would need to think about like freezing her eggs so she can one day have a family.

We know that there are so many deserving stories all over these GoFundMe pages. We have a goal of $22,000 to help cover chemo, radiation, and everything in between that is not covered by insurance.. Any little bit extra you have to give will mean the world to Ashley.
