Imagine waking up in the middle of the night choking and coughing from smoke coming from your neighbor nextdoor and hearing the sound of crackling wood and realizing in that moment your home is on fire? Yesterday in the early hours of the morning, it is what happened to Ashley. In a matter of mere seconds she was able to grab Frank and Penny her devoted pugs and literally throw them into the hallway of her apartment building, grab her car keys and phone and make it out in time before the entire unit was engulfed in flames. It’s been a trying year for most of us, we can certainly all agree on that, and for Ashley losing her mum unexpectedly just a few months ago, has made this past year especially difficult for our dear friend. After a horrific roommate experience at her last home, Ashley was beyond proud of her latest apartment and was so delighted when Sarah and I surprised her with an apartment makeover after returning home from her mum’s funeral, complete with all the boho vibes of her dreams. Ashley’s family live in Ohio and it’s our job, as her friends and chosen family to help her get back on her feet. If you feel inclined to donate please know all funds raised will go directly to her for clothes, supplies, dog food and hopefully a deposit for a new place to live.
