Help Ashlee’s road to recovery after stroke

Donation protected
Hi, everyone. Our sister, Ashlee La Londe, has suffered from 3 strokes and multiple seizures.

On Thursday afternoon, Ashlee woke up from a nap with no feeling in her left leg. She was rushed to Bryan hospital. The doctors in the ER then transferred her to St. Vincent's in Toledo. While waiting for the doctors at St. V's to perform tests, she suffered from a seizure. She then had another seizure that night which caused paralysis in her right arm. The MRI results confirmed she had two strokes. She then went on to have another seizure that caused full body paralysis. The MRI showed a blood clot on her brain, called Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis. It is extremely rare, affecting only 1 in 100,000 people. This blood clot was stopping blood flow to her brain. The neurosurgeons then performed emergency brain surgery on Ashlee to remove the clot. Then two days later they performed the same surgery again to remove the rest. She was intubated and has since been in a comatose state. Ashlee was not having good response to any of the reflex tests the doctors were performing. She was weaned off completely of her sedation meds but was not showing any signs of improvement and still in a coma. Her blood pressure then started to decrease dangerously low for two days. We thought we were going to lose her. Ashlee's care team could not give an answer as to why this was happening. We were told it is a waiting game.

When visiting Ashlee, there was notice of her leg looking marbled and her toes were turning purple. Her leg was cold to the touch. We brought it to the doctor's attention who then said it was normal with all of the fluids being pumped in her system. (it didn't look normal) Her leg continued to get worse for two days. It was brought to the care team's attention again.. Half an hour later, we were notified that Ashlee had a blood clot in her leg that was cutting off blood flow completely to her leg. We were told that her leg would need to be amputated within 6 hours if blood flow didn't return to the leg. Her care team did not know what to do because with her being so critical and unstable, they didn't know if they would lose her on the table. Then, a vascular surgeon, not even on her care team, is the one who brought it to their attention that they need to increase her steroids due to her adrenal and pituitary gland not working properly. This was causing her blood pressure. The vascular surgeon told her care team that he could remove the clot from Ashlee but wasn't sure on extent of damage. He performed the surgery and successfully removed the clot from her leg. Her steroids were increased and her blood pressure started to become more stable. Her doctors then found a pulse in her leg but they said they are not optimistic that her leg will be saved. She is still intubated, but they will be having to perform a tracheostomy on her. Her care team has not given a full prognosis on what will happen to her and are unable to figure out why she clotted the way she was.

Please pray for Ashlee and family. Her kids miss her so much. Please consider donating to help with her medical bills and treatment. Thank you.
