Help Ashlee achieve her dreams
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ute and with the help of my daughter Tara, we are fundraising for Ashlee, so she can achieve her dreams.
Here is Ashlee’s Cancer Journey.
Ashlee was diagnosed on 27th July 2020 with an Optic Nerve Glioma. It
was being monitored for the next 6mths until Ashlee lost her eye
sight in her right eye in Feb 2021. Her eye tumor had tripled in size
in just 3mths. Ashlee was then admitted to Queensland Children’s
Hospital on the 9th March to have a port of Cath placed directly into her
blood stream. She started her first cycle of chemo the following day.
That was once a week for the first 6 weeks then monthly for 11mths.
( 12 cycles) unfortunately Ashlee got an anaphylactic allergic reaction
to one of her chemo drugs and treatment was ceased at cycle 11. (All
this going on as well as completing year 12 and graduating).
While receiving treatment for her optic nerve glioma, the doctors were
keeping a close eye on another area of concern in her left frontal lobe.
Her doctors decided to do a biopsy on the left frontal lobe on the 27th
January 2022, which came back as a paediatric diffuse high grade
Glioma / Astrocytoma ( grade 3 ). Within 3 weeks Ash underwent 33
days ( 7 weeks ) of intense radiation from March to April to try and
get rid of this nasty. Radiation worked and at that stage both tumors
were stable. Come November 2022, doctors noticed a change in her
Cerebellum so once again back on oral chemotherapy. That continued
for approximately 8mths. The mass measured 16mm in axial diameter in
February and then in May had shown it had grown to now 22mm in
axial diameter. She continued with oral chemo until recently. Ash had another
MRI review in August which showed that Ashlee’s tumor’s, all 3 of
them had grown, the worst being the Cerebellum. It has now spread from
the right Cerebellum into the midline and Vermis, which the pressure is
causing loss of balance / falls and memory loss. Ashlee has now
started a new chemo regime which is every 6 weeks orally and
immunotherapy every 2 weeks. Unfortunately due to having so many
days of radiation last year they are unable to give her anymore. So
now this means that we can only hope and pray that this chemo
regime she is on WORKS. If not there is nothing else the Doctors can
do and it will just be a matter of time until this terrible disease takes
over her body.
She is only 19 yrs old and has the most amazing positive attitude. Her dream is to go to the Maldives, Bora Bora or Fiji just to have that opportunity to sleep in an ocean bungalow and dive into crystal clear water as soon as you walk outside.
