Andy, Caleb, Charlotte, Gavin, Heniu, Sydney, and Willa are a dedicated group of 5th graders from Ashlawn Elementary who have participated in Odyssey of the Mind for the past four years. As the Odyssey of the Mind coordinator, I have watched these students grow as creative problem-solvers and supportive teammates. Their hard work paid off this year when they won 1st place at the State Tournament, earning a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Ashlawn at the World Finals in Iowa.
Traveling to the World Finals is a dream come true, but it comes with significant expenses. The cost of housing and meals at Iowa State University, airfare for students and chaperones, and transporting props from Virginia to Iowa quickly add up. Our goal is to ensure that every student can attend and experience this international competition on a college campus, without financial barriers standing in their way.
Thank you in advance for supporting this team! Our Odyssey of the Mind program has grown from just a few teams in the early 2000s to ELEVEN teams this year. It was beyond our wildest dreams to have a team make it to the World Finals, and we are so excited to see our Ashlawn Eagles soar! Your generosity will help these students take flight and make memories that will last a lifetime.
