My 4-year-old son Asher has been struggling with constant congestion and ear infections for years. We had tubes put in his ears, which helped for a while, but this past year has been especially tough. His tubes are stuck and not coming out, and the doctor says the problem stems from his adenoids. Asher is always stuffy, rarely complains, and his nose and cheeks are constantly red from a nonstop runny nose. It's hard to tell when he's actually sick because he always seems uncomfortable. The doctor says if his adenoids aren't removed and the tubes aren't replaced, it could lead to more complications down the road.
We booked his surgery over a month ago, but just one week before the operation, we were told we need to pay upfront before they can proceed. This doesn't even cover the anesthesiologist and doctor bills, and it's all after insurance. We don't have that kind of disposable income, and the timeline makes it impossible to save up quickly. My biggest worry is that Asher will become immune to antibiotics because he's had so many rounds. My hope is that he can breathe again, stop needing constant medication, and get back to learning and feeling comfortable. Lately, his learning seems stunted, and I wonder if this has been a distraction for him.
I'm very grateful for anything people can give, even a few dollars. The only reason I'm asking for help is the urgent timeline we have to come up with the money. Neither of us like asking for help, but we just want the best for our little guy. Any support means the world to us and will help Asher get the care he needs.
