My name is Ashanti and on 7/3/25, my family and I experienced a devastating event that left us displaced and without many of our belongings. We are incredibly grateful to be safe, but the emotional and financial impact has been overwhelming.

Although the fire did not originate in my residence, it caused substantial damage to my home, rendering it unlivable due to smoke and structural damage.

Right now, we are all staying in temporary housing, trying to piece our lives back together. We’ve lost furniture, clothing, household essentials, and most importantly, our sense of stability. While we are working with local resources and support programs, there are still immediate needs we’re struggling to cover—like food, clothing, temporary shelter needs, and replacing basic everyday items.

It is a process as we are still waiting for documents that show proof from the fire department to attain more assistance for everyday needs.
