Ash is my 6‑year‑old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the absolute heart of our family. In early April, she was running, slipped, and took a bad fall. Immediately afterward, she couldn’t bear weight on her right back leg. We rushed her to our veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with a torn cranial cruciate ligament the dog equivalent of an ACL tear.
This was not a slow-developing condition. It was a sudden, traumatic accident.
Ash had full X-rays taken in 2023 for an unrelated bladder stone issue, and those images clearly showed healthy, intact knees with no signs of degeneration. After her fall this year, new X-rays and an orthopedic exam confirmed a complete tear that right her knee unstable and painful.
Despite all of this documentation, our pet insurance provider (ASPCA) denied her claim, stating that her injury was an “illness” rather than the direct result of her fall even though her veterinarian explicitly documented that the injury occurred after she slipped and that she had no prior symptoms or knee issues in a formal letter to ASPCA. Because of this denial, we are now responsible for the full cost of her surgery.
Ash needs surgery to stabilize her knee so she can walk, play, and live without constant pain. Without it, her joint will continue to deteriorate, and she will develop severe arthritis. She still wants to chase toys, go on walks, and cuddle she just physically can’t right now.
We’re asking for help so we can get her the surgery she needs and give her the chance to fully recover and enjoy her life again. Every donation goes directly toward Ash’s surgery, medications, and recovery. We are incredibly grateful for any support, shares, or kind words.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send Ash some love, it truly means more than we can express. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings Ash one step closer to walking, running, and living without pain again.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of her healing journey and helping us give her the care she deserves.
