On Oct October 28, Ash fell trying to cross the street near their home, and unfortunately fractured their hip. Ash was immediately in extreme pain, and was found by a neighbor, and transported by an ambulance to Jean Talon hospital, where they went through many painful scans & exams, and waited overnight to be transferred to Montreal General Hospital. They then waited for surgery for ONE WHOLE WEEK in pain due to high volumes in the Emergency Room. Finally they have just gotten surgery this week.

Ash's condition, Osteogenesis imperfecta, causes your bones to be more brittle than the average person's. This makes Ash very vulnerable to falls, breaks and surgeries. This is unfortunately not their first fracture nor surgery, in fact it's one of many that have occurred in their lifetime.

This fracture however has been the most extreme, as it is leaving Ash on a "no weight bearing restriction" which means they cannot use their hip or leg at all for 6 weeks or more, depending on their healing. The actual healing it will take could take many, many months. This means that Ash cannot care for themself with ease, and they will require many things over the next few months at the least. Some things Ash will be spending these funds on:

-Rentals and purchases of assistive devices:
  • shower devices
  • bathroom devices
  • bedroom devices
  • mobility devices (walker, crutches, potential wheelchair)
  • care items to help everyday tasks & comfort (cushions, grabbers, tools, etc.)
-Long term physio equipment
-Food accommodations since Ash cannot cook for themself for a while
-Transportation costs (uber/lyfts)
-Miscellaneous health & care items
-Potential cleaning help since Ash cannot clean their home themself
-Mental health needs
-Miscellaneous unseen costs that may arise

Luckily Ash is surrounded by friends & community! But, with some financial support, they will surely recover feeling supported and cared for, without the extra financial stress. Ash is such a caring and engaged person in their communities, so this care being given back to them is so appreciated.
Thank you so much for your donations.
