Hello! My name is Lisa. I'm the proud mother of Ashley. Ash graduated from culinary college in Nebraska at the top of the class. Ash is an amazing chef. Ash made a life in Nebraska until one day he wasn't feeling well. He went to the doctors in Nebraska only to still find himself not feeling well and didn't know why.
So he called me and asked, "What am I to do now?" I replied, "Allow me to come get you, bring you back to Chicago so I can help you find out what's going on."
So my fiancé and I drove to Nebraska and brought Ash back home to Chicago. We rested and the next day went to the ER. Ash took some tests and saw a doctor. We were sent home with a prescription for ibuprofen and told to call on Monday to set up an appointment with another doctor. I returned to work but came straight home. On the second day, I arrived home and Ash had fallen in the bathroom. I called the ambulance and we were taken to the University of Chicago ER. Once we arrived, they started testing Ash and we were told Ash had sepsis and had to have emergency surgery. Ash ended up having 4 surgeries within the week.
The surgical teams, family, and I were watching second to second as Ash was fighting for his life. The doctors had Ash connected to many machines so his body could rest. Ash gave everything he had.
I'm happy to say that Ash is STILL HERE! He is healing from the complications from sepsis, slow and steady. He is also in rehabilitation to help him walk again.
I've been at his side trying to keep him grounded in God, stay hopeful, and to keep moving forward.
I am supporting him financially as much as I can. Once Ash gets back healthy, he wants to buy a food truck to make fresh meals for people.
However, I still have one more drive back to Nebraska to pick up Ash's belongings and bring them back to Chicago. Ash was living out there for about 16 years, so I need to rent a truck.
I'm trying to raise $3000 to help with the truck rental and to provide for Ash's current needs.
Ash is a good person. Over the years, he has volunteered and given service to others.
My goal is to help Ash get his life back before I lose mine.
